Traces in the Dark
9 by 11 inches, 96 pages, unbound
This exhibition catalogue’s organization is driven by the relationships of the three artists in the exhibition. Each artist has a 24-page folio that nests together with the others, as well as one folio for the curatorial essay. These folios are unbound, allowing the sections to nest in variable ways, suggesting a looseness of form. The catalogue’s cover was produced after the exhibition had opened, allowing for photography of the exhibition to be included in the final assembly of the catalogue that was then published. This allowed the catalogue to appear at the exhibition, but also be archival in nature. This solution helps facilitate institutional memory for the ICA.
